EMPOWERING GROWTH THROUGH PLAY IN THE MADISON & HUNTSVILLE AREAS OF ALABAMA
About
Wellspace Play Therapy
Play based interventions can be used with children, adolescents, and families!
Playing is a developmental task that helps one to express themselves emotionally, mentally, physically, and rationally. WellSpace Play Therapy use play-based interventions to encourage children to communicate feelings and emotions. WellSpace Play Therapy integrate play as a form of mental health counseling to provide a safe environment to increasing mental health.

our mission
At the heart of our practice is the belief that every child holds unique inner superpowers—creativity, resilience, and the ability to heal.
Through the transformative process of play therapy, we create a safe, nurturing space where children can express themselves, process emotions, and overcome challenges. By honoring their natural language of play, we empower children to explore their strengths, build confidence, and thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

Felicia Powell
Play-based interventions for Kids, Teens, and Families
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that utilizes play-based interventions with children, age 3 to17. Whether you're a parent seeking support with emotional outbursts, depression, anxiety, autism, or other concerns you have for your child, I can help you improve your relationship with them and manage their symptoms. I believe in using Play-based interventions because it allows children to communicate in a way that is less invasive and natural to them! While working together, we create a plan which fosters resilience, decreases anxiety, improves communication and problematic behaviors.

Shaunta
I specialize in working with neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults using play-based therapy.
Through sensory play and creative expression, I help kids explore who they are, build confidence, and feel understood in a world that often doesn’t reflect their unique experiences.
Whether your child is navigating big feelings, sensory sensitivities, or simply feels a little different—you’re not alone.
Shaunta is an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Licensed Professional Counselor Lucy Douglas. She brings over 10 years of experience in behavioral health and holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Rehabilitation. When she’s not in session, Shaunta enjoys traveling with her children, crafting, and giving back to her community.

Michelle
Professionally, I have a heart for administration and see it as my calling to support children and families in our community.
I believe mental health care is essential for growth—and that sometimes, a warm smile and a positive attitude can go a long way. One of my favorite parts of my role is connecting clients to the services we offer and helping them find the resources they need to thrive.
I’m all about fishing, canoeing, and anything that gets me outdoors with my husband, two daughters, and our lovable fur babies. Cooking and harmless pranks? Definitely my love languages!
Imani
My name is Imani Rivers, and I am currently a Graduate Student at Alabama A&M University!
Although this is my first time working with children, I’m excited to support their growth through creativity, play, and emotional exploration. My long-standing interest in human behavior and emotions led me to pursue counseling, where I aim to provide a safe, supportive space for others to thrive. I'm eager to learn the foundations of play therapy, develop effective techniques for working with diverse children, and strengthen my communication with both kids and families. Ultimately, I hope to help children build resilience, express their emotions in healthy ways, and develop the skills they need to navigate life with confidence.
