Court Involvement & Subpoena Policy
WellSpace Play Therapy does not provide forensic, custody evaluation, or court-ordered recommendation services unless otherwise formally agreed upon in writing. Therapy services are intended for therapeutic purposes only and are not designed for use in legal proceedings.
If a therapist is subpoenaed, requested to provide records, or asked to testify in court, the following applies:
Client confidentiality will be maintained to the fullest extent permitted by law
A valid court order or client authorization may be required before records are released
Therapists may assert appropriate legal and ethical protections regarding testimony
Preparation, record review, court attendance, and related services are billed at the practice’s legal/court rate
Participation in legal proceedings may impact the therapeutic relationship and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis
By engaging in services, clients and guardians acknowledge and understand these policies regarding court involvement.
