Court Involvement & Subpoena Policy

WellSpace Play Therapy does not provide forensic, custody evaluation, or court-ordered recommendation services unless otherwise formally agreed upon in writing. Therapy services are intended for therapeutic purposes only and are not designed for use in legal proceedings.

If a therapist is subpoenaed, requested to provide records, or asked to testify in court, the following applies:

  • Client confidentiality will be maintained to the fullest extent permitted by law

  • A valid court order or client authorization may be required before records are released

  • Therapists may assert appropriate legal and ethical protections regarding testimony

  • Preparation, record review, court attendance, and related services are billed at the practice’s legal/court rate

  • Participation in legal proceedings may impact the therapeutic relationship and is evaluated on a case-by-case basis
